Aluminium du Maroc confirms a strategic refocus on aluminium

The Board of Directors of Aluminium du Maroc, convened on May 12, 2026 under the chairmanship of Abdeslam El Alami, decided to refocus the Group’s activities on its core business, aluminium, as part of the implementation of its 2025–2035 strategic plan and the acceleration of its growth.

In this context, the Board approved a gradual conversion plan for the steel business over an estimated two-year period. According to the company, this activity represents only 5% of consolidated revenue and has been structurally loss-making for several years.

In 2025, the steel activity recorded a loss of MAD 4 million.

Aluminium du Maroc believes that this decision will sustainably strengthen its profitability, optimize the allocation of its resources, and accelerate its development and investment projects in value-added aluminium activities.

The company stated that the financial impacts related to this conversion remain limited in view of its growth prospects. The operation is expected to generate a one-off impact estimated at minus MAD 8.9 million on 2026 net income, mainly related to support costs and reorganization operations. However, the 2026 budget forecasts already anticipate offsetting approximately 50% of this impact through the growth of aluminium sales and controlled operational management.

Over the 2026–2035 period, Aluminium du Maroc anticipates a cumulative positive impact estimated at +MAD 12.4 million on net income and +MAD 13.6 million on cash flow.

The Group also indicated that additional positive effects are expected from future industrial and logistics investments that will gradually be deployed in the spaces currently occupied by the steel activity.

On the social front, Aluminium du Maroc stated its intention to support the teams affected by this reorganization. Nearly all concerned employees are expected to be trained and redeployed toward growing business activities.

Lastly, the company reaffirmed its ambition to continue its development around aluminium in order to consolidate its position in the Moroccan market and strengthen its presence in Europe and Africa.
